Trijicon TA648 (new model with Picatinny rail)
Recently selected as the optical sight for the British Army’s L129A1 Sharpshooter Rifle (n LMT .308″ AR) the Trijicon TA648 ACOG is a 6X48 magnifying reflex sight intended for medium to long range use. It gives excellent target acquisition speed and accuracy. High quality optics mean this sight is usable in low light and the 6X magnification ensures that the sight can be used agains small, relatively distant targets. The latest version of this sight features a Picatinny rail on top to enable the mounting of a small Trijicon, Docter or Insight Miniature Red Dot Sight. This sight differs from most ACOGs in featuring a manual override for the otherwise automatic fiber-optic illumination system to enable you to adjust finely to ambient light conditions. Night illumination is provided by a tritium light source.
Trijicon TA648 5.56 mm reticle
The bright, red or green (for .308/7.62×51 mm only), chevron (upside down “V”) reticle ensures very rapid shot placement whilst a ladder reticle gives you aiming marks in 100 meter intervals from 400 to 800 meters (1200 in the 7.62X51 mm model). This bullet drop compensating or DDC reticle is available calibrated for either 7.62X51 mm M80 ball or 5.56X45 mm M855 ball. For ruggedness the 6X48 ACOG is machined from the same forged 7075 T6 aluminum from which M16 receivers are made. It is anodized matte black to match the finish of most in-service weapons. The TA648 .308 ACOG or 5.56 ACOG is waterproof to an astounding 100 meters and is dry nitrogen filled to prevent fogging. It mounts directly to any MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny rail with its TA75 base. The 6X ACOG sight can be removed and re-fitted without loss of zero.
